Well Volkswagen has pulled a fast one (literally) and decided to unveil a W12 powered, rear-wheel-drive, mid-engined GTI at the tuner/drunk/party fest in Austria known as Worthersee. We'll have more information, photos and video in coming weeks ahead. A full photo gallery is provided in the links below.

We also have a loosely translated version of the German press releaes below, but what we do know is this:

- VW claims a top speed of 202 mph
- 6.0l W12 12-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine mounted in the back seat of the GTI
- 650hp and 553 lb-ft. of torque (!)
- with the flared fenders the car sits over 6 feet wide and only 4.6 feet tall
- 19" wheels with 295 rear rubber and 235 front rubber
- the fenders are flared 3.15" at the rea

yea im a short guy, so i have to worry about whether or not i can see when picking a car rather than if i'll have enough head room lol

Imagine, you drag-racing a Lambo or a Ferrari in that car, and winning =D The feeling should be sooo owning.

it looks so ugly though...Ugliest cars make the greatest sleepers

That car is a bit over the top for looks, but that's what all manufacturers are doing with cars now, so will have to get used to it.

car is clean, it is possable to have that top speed, but iDK
in 2004 a 350z (nissan) was built for top speed and had well over 1000 hp and blew the motor @ 220 mph.
huge power difference and only made it 18 mph over the GTI, lol

no comment, just watch. like i said be4, they use the car as a shell and i doubt they use stock motor to build

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nemkb9qXTX8

enjoy the carnage

lol i was looking at the stock spec for 06 GTI...they call it "double overhead cam" instead of dual overhead cam (dohc)

Turbo compressor • 1,781 cc 1.8 liters in-line 4 front engine with 81 mm bore, 86.4 mm stroke, 9.5 compression ratio, double overhead cam and five valves per cylinder • Premium unleaded fuel 91 • Fuel economy EPA highway (mpg): 31 and EPA city (mpg): 24 • Multi-point injection fuel system • 14.5 gallon main premium unleaded fuel tank • Power: 134 kW , 180 HP SAE @ 5,500 rpm; 173 ft lb , 235 Nm @ 1,950 rpm

edit:confused me harecore, i need to stop drinking and i will remember what im saying

the GTI from the original post is the 12 cylinder engine taken from the audi a8 (as far as i know its the a8), the cylinders form a "W", kinda like a v12 has the cylinders in the shape of a V.

Im not sure where you went and got those specs but my car is rated at 200hp, 2.0 liter....i think your looking at the early 06 gti's...mine is a 06.5 new body style

This car would be fuckin fun to rip up pavement. Vw engines hold up under anything 2. Went and saw the Vw me and ym dad are drivin' its pretty gangster.

(Notices I drove NP's eclipse 2day :) )

And german concepts omg they have some of the wickedest fucking ideas its ridiculous. I wouldnt mind turning a Vw into a dragster.

vw's own on the auto-x as well

oh and if you didnt knwo allready, the new straight 5 cylinder vw's...that engine is the same engine in the gallardo....well half of it anyways...that might make your dad want it more

God damn.

Honestly he told me it was a 5 cylinder engine i was like wtf. Didnt really hear 2 much about 'em. Lol. But shit as cheap as it is, and its turbo charged ill sport it. Things clean as hell 2.

Wish I knew more about german cars, but we havent worked on 2 many of 'em. Mainly american, and japanese cars are what goes through our shop.

Dads friend Danny knows quite a bit, but still dont got the greatest amount of experience. But yea its pretty much decided we are getting it.
