So, the past few days i've noticed that my car would shake a little bit when it is idle, like when i'm sitting at a red light. I got an oil change a few days ago, and I really haven't had any problems with my car since I got it. I got a 2002 Ford Focus with about 63,000 miles on her. If anyone has had a similar situation, i would appreciate it if you could shed some light on me.

could be a couple things, could be a vacuum leak, could be ur egr valve not working right, could be ur idle air control valve or MAF. I would suggest take it somewhere were u can get it scanned. Is Check engine light on?

i thought vacuum leak myself too...i dont know what a focus engine looks like but if the tech doing the oil change banged into a tube while doing it, that might have happened

hmmm, could be a few things. could be the timing (mis-firing in cylinder) this causes you to feel shaking only at idle, whats the rpm guage @ when idle? also, does it only happen at a stop?
check
A) distributer
B) spark wires
C) spark plugs

another thing but i doubt its it, your motor mounts might be going, the engine shakes and if the mounts are going, you feel the vibrations.

i dont know much about fords so forgive me if its something else

I dont think a 2002 focus has a distributer i think it has coil packs. If it does have a light on take it somewhere to get is scanned would be the best thing.

Since your CEL is on, go to Autozone and get it scanned. I would start with that. Shaking car could mean many things.

wow, no rpm guage on ur car.....and i am old school with the distubuter comment, i am thinking in the terms of hondas.
so then take it and run dignosics, they run your ecu for checks....ect. secondly, my mom has a 02' volvo S60 and it was shakey and made noises (sqeeking) when turning so if you hear that, new mounts (loose mounts cause shaking @ idle)

lol, i am expert in old-school hondas NOT 02' fords, but i hope i can still help

hey hey, check if your cylinders are mis-fire-ing.... but ford is way different from honda. i did some research for you and found that you should just take it to a shop, there are about 20 things that could be happening, all with that symptom...what can i say? i hate domestics

Yup its got a coil pack.Doubt its the mount.Fords are built pretty solid in that aspect. But its a 2002, so if the lights on im sure if you get it scanned, you will find out whats wrong with it. It could be cylinders misfiring, but the blocks on those are pretty solid, and you would know, woudlnt really make the whole car shake, but it would make sum ugly noises.

Volvo's are fucking righteous. Safest cars in the world.lol. Surprised tho, those cars are built pretty solid 2.
