The true low point of the evening belonged to Sobral, an MMA and UFC veteran who should absolutely know better.
Sobral exchanged words with opponent David Heath at yesterday’s weigh-ins — with the two light heavyweights going nose-to-nose before being broken up by security officials. Sobral apparently carried those hard feelings over to tonight’s undercard bout.
After opening a deep gash on Heath’s forehead, Sobral transitioned into a submission choke. However, when Heath tapped out, Sobral refused to release the choke. Even referee Steve Mazzagatti couldn’t break the hold. Only after Heath went unconscious did Sobral release his grip.
In a post-fight interview, Sobral admitted he held the choke extra long because he was ticked at Heath for cursing at him during the weigh-ins. The crowd quickly turned on the fighter, booing him mercilessly.
When Sobral threw a souvenir hat into the stands, it was UFC lightweight and “The Ultimate Fighter 5” runner-up Manny Ganburyan who picked it up, and uttering a few choice words, hurled the cap back in the Octagon.

My stupid ass Brother-in-law owed 30 bux on his cable bill, so they wouldnt give us the feed, of course we didnt realize until it started (first time late on a payment, was from another UFC PPV)

Long story short, hes getting bell express view now, and promised he would never pay the 30 bones (hes fucked like that)

Ended up going to sum stinky ass little bar to watch it, and only saw GSP's decision (wasn't his best performance, obviously, but he fought smart) Good Job St. Pierre.

& Couture's Tko. Same thing, he was fighting smart, I don't think that was the last fight but they turned it off after that :no:

But i guess it worked out cause those are the two fights i wanted to see the most, and my bro-in-law (Kurt) payed everyones cover and most the drinks for the night (the same guy who got pissed of and promised not to pay 30... spend over 200 last night..lol

now i gotta find the other fights, I would assume Patrick Cote Vs. Kendall Grove was good, Happy that "The Predator" won :nod:

yea i originally picked Gonzaga to win but days before i just couldnt do it and we were all rooting for Couture =D

I just watched the Mir/Hardonk and Sobral/Heath fights on UFC on Demand
unless they edited every scene, he did NOT hold the choke in for an extra 5-7 seconds. He had it in standing up and then when they went down and then rolled him over tap and 3 more seconds then he let go

it was late but only slightly longer than BJ Penn's choke imo, also UFC edited out his post fight interview =/ because he admits to holding in the choke and stuff

once again, and not because Sobral is my favorite fighter, he did not hold it excessively longer

Kimo the time doesn't really matter, all that matter is he shows no repsect for the UFC rules, he might of been mad at the "disrespect" Health showed him, but that doesn't mean he can disrespect the rules. UFC will not let Babalu go, he is a pretty good draw and exciting fighter,
which is why this was his 10th UFC fight
he made 50k, 25 to show 25 to win compared to Marcus Aurelio(30/30k) and some of the other Pride guys
who arent really big draws Herring, Nakamura but are looking at big pay checks, its a good deal.
also can you imagine bodog or K-1 signing Babalu as "too hardcore for the UFC"
