basically what happens is someone will "roll the fender" (what ever that actually means) to allow more clearance in the wheel well so that they can fit a bigger tire or lower thier car more with out rubbing against the body/wheel wells
i need to know because i may have to get this done after i get my coilovers installed...im going to be pretty damn low

so you sound like you know what fender rolling is about...can you explain it further...what exactly is rolled? and how is it rolled? and what lip are you talking about?

lol, confused me also, i never heard that term before. but ahhh, i thought your car comes stock 18's w/sport suspension...
bigger wheels raise your car, so then coil-overs are a good idea, make sure to replace struts, bushings and get your car alligned and get a camber kit.
as for the shaving of the wheel well, most cars can handel 3 inches over stock wheel size, but thats cutting it close. for example my car can handle 17's (stock 14's) but it looks dumb. go with 19's unless i am wrong about ur stock wheels

post pics when u get them installed, you could also try pulling your fenders or you could either run a stretched tire like a lot of the euros and drifters are, i love the stretched tire look:)http://vortex3.rely.net/gallery/albums//Events/Enthusiast/Waterfest/2005/A4%20Golf-Jetta-GTI/022.jpg

You know that small inner lip of your fender? Rolling your fender just pushes that up and in. There's some places you can rent a tool to do it with (I think tirerack does), but I've heard of some people just using a baseball bat.

yea it does come with stock 18's...sport suspension not so much...thats what VW calls it...but i'm about as high as JT's expedition from the factory. Im not trying to fit bigger wheels though, im planning on lowering my car a good 4" to look something like this:

your trying to lower your car 4 inches?!?!?! WAAAA thats kinda crazy. ummm not quite ment to be lowered that much. neuspeed suggests a 1.5 inch drop (sport springs)
that car is droped about 2 inches i am guessing. i dont even know if you can, coil-over limits are 3.2inches, only option is air-ride suspention which sucks in terms of price
4 inches is not possable. my car is droped 1.8 inches and my lip scraps on bumps and my drive-way, you do not want that

Seriously, a 4 inch drop is way too much. I hope you know what kind of headaches you're getting yourself into. I had a 2 inch drop on my 98 eclipse, which had a body kit as well, and i scraped the bottom on a lot of driveways and speed bumps in the road. After the fun of it wears off, it becomes a real hassle.
