peak isn't important, it's the constant (rms) that matters
you'll want a class d mono amp

lmao people think peak power is where it's at

personally i wouldnt buy anything xplod. id go more for some alpine subs and a rockford amp or maybe pioneer or kenwood. but if u already have those subs, ur gonna need at least a 1000 watt amp to power them properly. and as stated above, a mono amp would be ur best bet to power teh subs.

rms is the power that the subs run at constantly, peak power is what they can max out at with max wattage. a mono amp is just one channel and all of the power is focused to one channel which is much better for low frequency (bass) while 2 and 4 channel amps are best used for interior speakers.

listen to ^this guy he is right and he knows what he is talking about. Don't buy Sony speakers. They look really cool but besides that they aren't all that great. You can find better speakers then Xplodes and they are probably cheaper.

Yep Sony makes ALOT of nice shit but car stereo products arent one of them. The Xplod speakers arent very good and their amps get hot enough to cook breakfast on them. Go with any of these following brands and you will be happy:
Alpine
Fosgate
JL Audio(My personal favorite) :)
Pioneer
Kenwood

rms is the max power that the speakers can run at all day everyday without fucking out. max wattage is the absolute peak power that it can have which can be for anything like
.00002 seconds before it fucks out

Agreed. I hust upgraded my sub amp from a 500 watt Class D Memphis, to a 750 watt Kicker Class D...best decision I ever made.

in my experience speaker brand doesnt matter, the amp and headunit is what really matters...speakers are fairly easy to manufacture so pretty much all brands..event he no name brands are going to produce something capeable, its when you get down to the nitty gritty electronics where name brand is what you want
in my car i got 2 12" DUAL woofers in a bandpass box....its powered by a 900watt rockford amp and a JVC headunit....shit is loud, ive had the subs and amp since i was 18...still hitting hard
check out crutchfield.com though...they got people you can call who can answer these questions for you, plus when you order from them they include all needed hardware for free (wireing harness, dash kit, radio removal keys, etc)

I really suggest not getting anything Sony... they suck....
I suggest for subs:
Alpine
JL Audio
Infinity
Pioneer
Memphis
JBL (My personal favorite!!!!!!)
Audiobahn
Rockford Fosgate
Kicker
Just about anything else is better than Sony lol...
But i really do recommend JBL, they make really good speakers, i have owned a couple pair before, and i like'em from wut i have heard from other brands....
For Head Units:
Pioneer
and thats about it, pioneer has the best sound imo...

Mate, u need to know the impedence of the subs and whether it is dual coil to figure out the best amp for it
Impedence is generally either 4 Ohm or 2 Ohm (at times 1 Ohm), you will need to take a look at the RMS at these impedences to figure out,
I dunno how much uwanna spend on an amp, but The Rockford Fosgate T500-1bd is a particularly good amp and it can run 2x 4 Ohm Dual Voice Coil subs perfectly

ok what i plan on now is this..... 2 alpine R series 500 RMS dual 2 ohm with a phoenix gold octane r 15.0:1 amp and i already have an alpine head unit

This post is very true. This is why I prefer JL Audio equipment. Their subs kick ass and their amps are universal. In other words, ohms and impedence dont matter b/c the amp will deliver top power whether it be 2ohm or higher. I like this feature b/c you dont have to worry about buying the right ohm subs and whether they need to be wired in parallel or series and so forth.

Kickers are nice subs. I have Fosgates and Kickers, can't tell the difference between them.
