no doubt Leben would only take the fight if he received a contract extension,
however despite having a good run after the TUF show (5-0), he has put up a record of 1-3, KO'ing Jorge Santiago and getting KO'd by champ Anderson Silva, submitted by Jason MacDonald and more recently losing a unanimous decision to TUF 3's Kalib Starnes.
Leben receiving a new contract for more money seems unlikely, Chris believes he has brought alot of attention to UFC and deserves more money or he plans to go elsewhere and headline.

quick updates:

Mike Swick is fighting Jonathan Goulet, the bad blood has already started with Goulet claiming Swick declined the fight. Reports claim Goulet went online to sites such as Sherdog.net forums and publicly rediculed Swich for refusing to fight him. Swich's camp denies such claims. The fight will take place at 170 lbs. which is a possible reason for Swick to question the fight with Goulet.

Chris Leben is smarter than most think, by not giving Mike Swick a rematch. Instead Leben will face Terry Martin, who is on a 2 fight win streak since moving down to middleweight. If Leben wins he is almost re-assured to get a new contract with the UFC and then possible taking on Swick at a later date. However a loss to Swick or Martin could mean the end of Leben's run in the UFC.

Leben is a fool. MAYBE he could have made a WEAK argument about bringing some attention to UFC way back when TUF was first around and UFC was STARVED for quality fighters and only could sell tickets by promoting silly reality tv stars like Chris Leben.

Now 5 seasons later, and the acquisition of Pride, the divisions are so stacked Leben isnt even a real factor anymore. So why the hell are they going to want to dish out much more money for him? He needs a reality check. True said :nod:
