getting phil back is a good move on the lakers part no doubt but they still gotta upgrade that roster. cause not even phil can save that sorry team. :frozzy: A trade or something will help them, maybe lamar odom and brian Grant could be on the move.

i think that phil is one of the most overated coaches ever. IMO
the reason why: He won nine championship rings. Six with Michael Jordan, the greatest to play the game. Three with Shaq, the most dominating player ever, and Kobe, a superstar who drew comparisons to MJ during the threepeats. Who can't win championships with those players?
Even if he leads this Lakers team to a playoffs i wouldn't be impressed, they still got Kobe and Odom. Not really a rebuilding team.

Nah youll get to the championship.. BUT.. the HEAT will get to the to the finlas next year no doubt... I mean come on.. Thier whole starting roster was injured in game 7 and 6.... They just need a more dominant Foward..

Lakers won't even make it past the first round. The only reason why the Spurs didn't win 5 championships in a row is because of ONE player and that's Shaq when he was dominating the game. Lakers need another Shaq if they want to beat any top 4 teams in the west. Phil isn't on the court getting rebounds and making shots is he? They should of spent that money on someone more useful.

I can say the same thing, How many did he win without those players?
Give him the magics or the knicks, see if he can make the playoffs.
The one thing that Jackson has yet to do, is show that he can build a championship team. Let’s face it. He has benefitted from some amazing timing. He became the coach of the Bulls when they started to hit all cylinders and didn’t get that ring when Jordan was out for a year, nor did he get it Jordan’s first year back. As soon as Jordan retired, and he knew Pippen was leaving town, Jackson bolted.
He went to LA where he was given the best center in the game, and one of the best shooting guards in the game. The rest was window dressing. He knew things would be more difficult next year than they were last year. His decision? Bye-bye.
In addition, Jackson was just downright out-coached in the finals by Larry Brown.
What I want to see is Jackson take over a team like the Magic or even the Knicks and turn them around and into contenders. Jackson isn’t overrated overall, but at the same time he’s been handed some of the best talent in basketball history and ran with it.
So how about we amend the question somewhat. Some of us have already chosen our all time basketball teams. But let’s say you’re the owner of an NBA expansion team. Who do you want coaching it? I’ll say this: It wouldn’t be Phil Jackson.

Don't get me wrong i think phil is a good coach, but overrated. I respect that he is going back to the lakers when they don't have shaq.

^that very successful triangle almost got him swept in the finals when he had four future HOFers on the team.

You're an idiot.
exactly, Phil is a good coach but he cant coach a horrible team to be great. He needs help offensivley, a trade or two and he needs to get Kobe to pass Chris Mihm the ball cause dude can play, everybody underestimates is abilities.
