I think this was a pretty even fight that could have been a good fight. hopefully they still fight eachother i dont really care bout seeing them fight anyone else.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Fernando Vargas has been diagnosed with what was called a severe iron deficiency, and his non-title bout against Ricardo Mayorga on Sept. 8 at Staples Center has been postponed.
Event publicist Ed Keenan, speaking from Ocean City, N.J., said fans had already purchased nearly $1 million worth of tickets and a sellout had been expected.

"Vargas's doctor ordered him to not participate in the match and to take the necessary weeks of treatment to correct the problem," Keenan said Saturday night, adding Vargas learned of his diagnosis after taking a routine blood test Friday.

Vargas, a two-time world champion, has said repeatedly that the bout would be his last, win or lose. The 29-year-old fighter from Oxnard, Calif., is 26-4 with 22 knockouts.

Mayorga, a three-time world champion from Nicaragua, is 27-6-1 with 22 knockouts.
Because the main event has been postponed, the entire card, co-promoted by Main Events and Don King, also is off, Keenan said. There was no immediate word as to when the bout would be rescheduled.

The fighters spoke Wednesday on a conference call, with Vargas giving no indication anything was wrong. The continuing theme centered around how much the fighters dislike each other, perhaps stemming from their first press conference for the fight July 11 at Staples Center, when punches were thrown and Mayorga bled from a cut under his right eye.
