I'm jus curious to see how your culture is affected by this....i am a white male and a went to a school w/ about 90% whites and couldnt stand the racial tension...personally i think all racist people should be shot...i cant tolerate it and hate em....african americans i think the situation is obviously diff. b/c there is still discrimination...but any white person w/ a racist bone in the body learns their lesson real quick if they say something racist around me cuz i fuckin go off

I dunno. I grew up in New York, went to a high school that was pretty much 50/50 (maybe a lil more white then black). There was NO racism whatsoever. When I went to college.....same thing. The only thing I noticed was in the cafeteria where blacks would eat with other blacks and whites would eat with whites. People tended to stay within their same race. But as far as tension and racism goes, I dont think there was any of that.

Yeah.....I moved to west virginia last year and thats pretty much how it is here......rednecks everywhere lol. It was very weird comming from a diverse place like New York to here which is predominately white.

The reason people were stating their race was to show their point of view ini their situtation being that race and being around whatever other race(s). I don't see anything wrong with his question. Anyway, my fam is Nicaraguan, my husband is black, my twin sister's husband isMex, and my other sister's boyfriend is Nicaraguan. My whole fam is "color blind." ?I love that about my fam. However when we all are together, we do get looks. A Hispanic woman that would go to my church with my neighbor saw me coming to my house with a black guy coming from the basketball court ( he was coming over to eat some of my mom's cookin like always), and she said to me in Spanish, "is that your boyfriend?" I replied with no so she said "Thank God, you're to pretty for those people, they're not good enough for you." I was mad but didn't say anything to her because she was and old churchlady.

Well im a half Maori half Pakeha (you all want no wtf they are but ohwell), 25% of my school is Polynesian 50%pakeha, and 25% other. I am ganna be honest im racist, racist 2 Asains mostly, but im racist 2 Pakehas and im half pakeha i dunno y but i jus diss them all the time.

I don't know. I'm not all into this "sympathics" thing either. I mean.... just because someone may have experienced more racism in some form doesn't mean that they're pardoned a little for being racist. There are a lot of people that are minorities that are racist not because they've experience discrimination. But there are some that because of the area they live in, or because they "too young" to have had it happen to them yet, that are still very racist. They're just feeding off of family, friends, and it grows with them through life. The same way it breeds and grows in all communities. I hate "reverse" racism just as much as I hate it coming from whites. I mean it's even more dumb in a sense when one might already know what that feels like.

And even though some people base these things on experience because it's all they know, and/or how they were raised that doesn't make it right. Fear is often the basis of racism on all sides of the playing field.

It's an issue that goes so deep that people are racist within their own races or ethnicities. And I think that's when it's at it's ugliest. I mean... no one likes to be discriminated against.... but when people that are of your own race or ethnicity have issues with you because of the way you look and so forth.... that's a lot worse to me.

This is what gets me, though. I hate it when people say racism is stupid, but would resolve it by shooting someone who uses it around them. Also, i'm half white, myself, and I don't care about what others think. Black people are still paranoid with everything that happened ages ago, and they can't let go. Yeah, there are still white people who attack black people because they're prejudice. But are you going to tell me it doesn't happen the other way around? Black people are just as racist, if not more. Look at stand up comedy. Black comedy, for the most part, has to be some of the most fucked up and rasict shit i've ever heard. But do they get hate mail for this? No. You know why? Because it's 'acceptable' for them to be racist. This is getting out of control.

It doesn't have to be just a 'white person' who's racist. That's being ignorant. Blacks, hispanics, asians, and whites are all equally racists in their own ways. I just hate it when black people get laughs when they're racist, but white people get a whole other treatment all together. Once a black man is a victim of racism, a whole shit load of black people form some kind of COALITION, and even televise it.

Don't get me wrong, I have black friends who happen to be close.. but I don't understand why it's acceptable for one culture to be more openly racist than the other.

Yeah that is sad. But you know.... here in the US (from what I've noticed where I live at least) the Asian minority is the main group that's still "okay" to OPENLY discriminate against. I've witness people making jokes and all sorts of things that they wouldn't dare say to someone else of a different race without "provocation". I've never witnessed unprovoked verbal insults directed at any individuals of another races. Usually with other groups of people, the other person always "did something" (in the eyes of the mocker) that led to the insult. But I've seen Asians and Asian Americans openly insulted for no real reason other than the ignorance of the offender. To me the thought is just horrible.

I have experience discrimination and I've been the on the receiving end of racist comments. But I've never had a complete stranger just spewing racial slurs at me for no reason whatsoever. And I just can't imagine what that must feel like.
