A gaming site is asking the question of whether hollywood is about to ruin your favorite video game. There are an incredible 48 game based movies currently in development. We've come not to expect too much from video-game movies but surely there could be a diamond in the rough from the 48 upcoming titles?

Alice (2008)
Alone in the Dark II (2009)
Area 51 (2009)
Assassin’s Creed (TBA)
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (2009)

The Sims (2009)
The Suffering (2009)
The Unforgettable (2008)
Tomb Raider III (TBA)
World of Warcraft (2009)

The problem also lies with gamers. Every time Hollywood releases another game based movie, gamers flock to the theaters to pay $10 for another piece of theatrical garbage (stop salivating over Hitman already guys). If movie studios keep making money from terrible movies because of an installed fan base, then they are going to keep making bad movies.

Spy Hunter is supposed to star The Rock...they had a game with him in it, it was supposed to be the movie game.

They missed Fatal Frame which went in for rewrites last year.
Dreamworks is suppose to be making that one.

I would love to see an Alice movie since that game was very twisted and disturbing in it's day. Although everyone knows the Alice movie is real, and I hope it gets good http://forums.maxconsole.net/images/smilies/smile.gif it has a good chance of getting mariobrosmovie'ed, though http://forums.maxconsole.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
its alice in wonderland set in a twisted/dark reality, as seen in American McGee's Alice game -> wikipedia! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_McGee%27s_Alice)

90% of these movies will never see the light of day, of the remaining few doubtful if anything good will come from them. Just look at past history, aside from Resident Evil & Mortal Kombat there haven't been any other decent game movies, have there?

^Just thinking about that game makes me wish "Oz" would've got picked up. That could've been a hella dope game.

Movie could be real good, as long as it's set after the original, and it's still twisted, and the characters are all still there and have that same creepy artistic style (i.e. - cheshire cat, card guards), and basically just staying loyal to the game...It was hella good, so I think the movie could be too

As for decent/good game-to-movie transitions, I really liked the Silent Hill movie. I think Gans really re-captured the feeling of the first game.Other than that the majority were disasters....Street Fighter, Alone in the Dark, Dead or Alive (), Bloodrayne, ect.
