I'll be watching.

I expect it to be boring and meaningless though, as always.

I also fully expect the HR Derby to be the worst of all time.
1) It takes place in Comerica Park. What, was Yellowstone booked?
2) The international thing is RIDICULOUS. It keeps so many great players out, for instance, Manny and David Ortiz are both from the Dominican Republic.
3) They need to make it open to all players, not just players who're on the all star team. Wily Mo Pena, Adam Dunn, and Richie Sexson. There's NO fucking excuse not to have guys like that in there. They're probably the 3 biggest longball hitters in the game today, especially Richie and Pena. I don't want to see Pudge scraping a few over the wall down the line. I want to see Pena blast 500 foot moonshots.

^^I totally agree 100%. They should have the best home run hitters in baseball regardless of whether they make the all-star team or not. Cliff Floyd (who IMO got snubbed) should be in the home run contest at least. Hes got 23 home runs and is among the leaders in the national league. Also, the international thing is ridiculous for the same reason you said. Having said that, I'll probably still watch because theres usually nothing better on tv anyways. Next year, I think im gonna go to it since its in pittsburgh.

As far as the game itself, its always great to watch all the best players at once. While im sad pedro will not be pitching considering im such a huge mets fan, it should definitely be a good game.

That's my favorite part of the whole mess. Not only did they have to go against the standard rules they have set up (being that you hae to be an all star to compete in the derby), but Ichiro was being asked to represent Japan. Choi is not Japanese. He's Korean. Basically Selig said "eh, fuck it, he represents slant-eyed nations."

Yup, Abreu and Ortiz put on a nice show.

The rest of the derby was absolutely horrible. Just because 2 players did alright doesn't mean the event was fun as a whole, and it wasn't. 3 fucking hours? Are you kidding me? MLB should be ashamed of the product they put out their last night.
