I read on this other board, someone was asking what wives though of their husbands, someone's reply was:

Is important to remember that love is a choice not a feeling.
Love is the choice to sacrifice for your wife and family.
It is to choose to put aside what you want to make a better life for those you love.

and that

Love is an act.

I'm just wondering if you agree with the statements made.

I'd say love is a bit of both - an act and a feeling. If you feel you love someone, then you SHOW them you love them by doing things for them, making sacrifices, compromises etc. If you didn't feel the love, you wouldn't act/treat them like you loved them, you definitely wouldn't show it.

Love is a feeling. And I agree that when you love someone you show it... and act of love. If you do it for other reasons... then... it's not for love at all.

I think we choose whether or not to be loving. We do so when we decide to exercise self-control and when we decide to express ourselves.... but all in the right ways. You know? At the same time... I don't think we always choose who we actually love (as in... falling in love). But I do feel that being loving is a choice that we make.

All it takes is saying to yourself "instead of fighting, I'm just going to let him/her win this time". Instead of ignoring the issue, I'm going to take care of it because this person needs it taken care of. Instead of just walking by, I'll smile or say hello, because that person seems to need it.

It's all about considering others, and not just think of what you want. :-)
