2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS arives at the Nürburgring [Spied] (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro-ss.html)
While spy shots of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro.html) are about a dime-a-dozen these days, the latest spy shots of General Motors' upcoming pony car (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro-ss.html#) reveal an import step in the car's development process — testing has been moved from the streets to Germany's famed Nürburgring.
Spy photographers spotted the latest prototype arriving at GM's (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro-ss.html#) Nürburgring testing facility.
Moreover, the prototype spotted appears to be a performance model — possibly the Z28 but more likely the range-topping SS model. The first dead giveaway that this isn't your typical V6er is that the car is sporting brightly-colored Brembo brakes at all four corners, a treatment normally reserved for performance models.
Another tip-off that this isn't a base model car is the existence of an air intake just before the hood. Images of a base-model production convertible Camaro (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro-convertible.html) were leaked earlier this year, and that car was void of any kind of air inlets. Also, the previous-generation SS used a ram-air hood and, as any enthusiast can attest to, a functioning hood scoop is good for a few extra ponies.
It would also make sense that the top performance Camaro would be getting some track time at the Nürburgring as lesser models won't be as highly scrutinized for their performance.
GM is keeping tight lipped about what V8 will be making its way under the hood of the Camaro SS, but sources have indicated the car will get a version of the supercharged LSA motor used in the Cadillac (http://www.leftlanenews.com/cadillac.htm) CTS-V (http://www.leftlanenews.com/cadillac-cts-v.html) and Chevrolet (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet.htm) Corvette ZR1 (http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-corvette-zr1.html).
