Sad day, at least he got some Super Bowl rings plus a appearance 3 seasons ago, what you mean by sad day?

It was a sad day due to the fact the greatest player to ever wear an NFL jersey is gone

jerry rice retired... bout fucking time.

Not a sad day at all, his skills have been diminished greatly. It would of been sad if he kept going.

He retired becuase he was a crybaby about not being the #3 reciever, when he shouldn't be above where he was placed given his skill level. What a crock of shit.

^ You didn't think he was that good. LMAO, Well that shows you what you know about football man. Jerry Rice is the best WR ever to play the game hands down.

...In all honest, how old are you? Reason being, maybe you only saw him play his last few years. And eventhough he did still have some quality years at the end...it was nowhere near the TRUE Jerry Rice in his prime. He's the BEST WR to ever play the game of Football. No question about it.

Saying Rice wasn't that good is like saying MJ couldn't ball.

It was a good day to know Rice retired. Too old to play and I didn't want him to stay with the Broncos.

...I understand you didn't want him to play for your Broncos...but let's give the man a little respect. The BEST WR of ALL time, and he actually played the game the RIGHT way...unlike "many" in today's game.

It was a good decision and he knows that, he's not as fast as he was and his age has crept up. The man was still as good as the best 3 or 4 years ago even being slower noone could make a cut like rice thats what set him apart. He never did posess amazing speed but you would never be able to tell the way he made his cuts and caught the ball

These are stats that compare the #1 player to the #2 player in team sports

-In baseball, Hank Aaron has six percent more home runs than Babe Ruth.

-In basketball, Kareem Abdul-Jabber has four percent more points than Karl Malone.

-In football, Emmitt Smith has 10 percent more rushing yards than Walter Payton.

Turn to Rice and the spreads become spectacular. For most seasons with 50 or more catches, Rice is 31 percent ahead of the No. 2 guy, Andre Reed.

-For most receptions in a career, Rice has 41 percent more than the second-best receiver, Cris Carter.

-For most consecutive games with a reception, Rice is 50 better than the second-best, Art Monk.

-For most career touchdowns, Rice is 52 percent better than the second-best, Carter.

-For most receiving yards gained, Rice is 53 percent better than the second-best, Tim Brown.

In team sports, only Wayne Gretzky, with 54 percent more career points than the second-best, Gordie Howe

He is easily the greatest WR of all time... I also would go as far as saying the greatest NFL player of all time

It's a no brainer he is going to go down as the greatest wide out ever.
