^^ hey dude thats
fantastic about the phD thing.

ok, well i'll give out the numbers for the GI:

first
off the glycemic index is the amount that it increases ur blood sugar complared to the amount
that the same quantity of white bread would increase it. The foods with the lower numbers will
cause your blood sugar to rise then fall more slowly than the foods with higher numbers will.

just to orient ppl: GI for a doughnut is 108,
on the other hand
vegetables like
artichoke, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, culiflower, celery, cucumber, eggplant spinach,
mushroom, peanuts, zucchini are all <20

sweeter veges like tomatoe is 23, green
peas is 68 and sweet corn is 78

Potatoes (root vegetables) are very high on the GI: a
baked potato is 158 even higher than a doughnut!!!!

now GI for simple sugars

fructose is 32, glucose is 137, sucrose 92 and maltose (a disaccharide really)
150

finally FRUITS: orange 47 , apple is 56, grapes 62, banana 89, pinapple 94, and
watermlon 103
Fruits low in the GI are cherries 32, grapefruit 36

And TSAR, i
disagree with u about the fructose and sucrose thing. They are in the same pathway of
metabolism

Sucrose is a disaccharide made up of Glucose and Fructose
Glucose
will go through glycolysis, then the crebs... etc for energy

Fructose uses fructokinase
and aldolase to make Glyceraldehyde 3 Phosphate (and DHAP) which is thne used in
GLYCOLYSIS , glycogenesis, and gluconeogenesis.

Galactose on the other hand
uses a different pathway (u will find glactose in lactose which is glucose and galactose... BUT
still galactose will find its wahy back to GLYCOLYSIS pathway.

NOTICE THAT
WHETHER SUCROSE, FRUCTOSE, LACTOSE, GALACTOSE (and glucose of course) , they
all find their way back to the GLYCOLYSIS CYCLE.

The sugars are NOT dramatically
different in our body, so sugar in a piece of fruit can be like sugar in a piece of cake, whether u
think a piece of fruit is healthy or not, many fruits can still be high in the glycemic index.

THAT SHOULD SUM IT UP.

Ur generalizing
though. It all depends on a person's insulin sensitivity.

^ ?
u have to
expand on what u are saying.
Are u talking about insulin sensitivity and diabetes type
II?
im very aware of that but everything i said up there is pure facts.
