I just want to hear how you do when you write a verse to a beat. I mean, do you listen to the beat while writing or you already know the beat?
I need some help cause sometimes I tend to go off beat. How can I improve that?

It really doesn't matter what beat you write to. It's just about a particular rhythm. If I have an idea for a track to write about, but I dont have a beat, I just stick to a rhythm and write to that. I think it's always better when you have a beat tho'. Every bar you write, jus go over what you've written so far and make sure its on beat. Simple as dat.

its about rhythm, its about timing, its about syllables...you jus gotta feel that shit. and yeah ^^ check every bar when u write it to make sure its on point

I've learned that if people cant stay on beat its just hard to write and do anything...you just gotta feel it..practice writing and rapping out loud because it helps.. if you rap to yourself and then you try to rap out loud it a little different so learn to rap out loud and practice by using your foot to stay on beat.

I type my verses a lot more than I write, cause it's faster. and I hate erasing and crossing off shit. . why do all that when I could just backspace lol. And to stay on beat just listen to the drum and snare, or have a metronome going

I type my songs as well. Ive gotten so used to it i cant even write them on paper, plus its easy to go to exact parts of the beat using the computer.
Pretty much I listen to a beat over and over, then I kind of just mumble how the flow should go IMO, then write lyrics to fit that flow.
And pretty much have the same type of beat riding throughout the whole song, but take a totally different approach at the hook. Like for the verses you can ride the snares, and for the hook you can flow with the melody of the hook. but thats just my approach
Yeah, there are many different ways that people do it, it all depends on what you are comfortable with.

itz all about ur style... the way u spit... over the years u get a rhyme skeem all ur own... i know lots of rappers that dont go 2 tha beat.... i dont like it...lol but u can
Depends what beat I'm writing to. Sometimes I just end each sentence at every other snare, and other times I don't care about the length of the bars at all and come up with something wierd. Sometimes I write the notes for every single syllable. I usually listen to the beat I'm writing to, but I also write at school and such with no beat sometimes.

it depends on ur style! i mean if i can use bizzy for an example ( in his prime) on tracks such as fried day, one night stand, look into my eyes etc, he kinda creates a melody for the track by the way he raps, if u no what i mean! if u jus deliver hard hittin lyrics, concentrate on makin ur point heard, the beat will fall into place! or if u laid back, wit a cool flow, just chill n take ur time! its all about how u want your track to sound like!
personally, i found it hard at the beginning when rappin fast to a melllow beat, a bit like flesh on dont worry, cos for me, i sounded off beat alot! but practise makes perfect my friend!!
let us know how u get on mayn!!
