My Moms Boyfriend Passed away, How do I React???

So I talked to my mom over the phone today, and she told me her ex died like 2 days ago, and I never liked the guy, he'd beat on my mom most of the time they were drinking, and i had to set him straight one time cause i was there once, but when she told me he passed away she sounded like she was in pain and sounded like she was about to cry, and i seriously didnt know what to say to make her feel better now i feel fucked up.
The guy was cool when he was sober but went to far when he was drunk, but now i feel bad cause i was so fucked up to the guy every time i was around him and i never actually talked to him.
so what should i say to my mom to make her feel better?

I Dunno It might be both, I'm not really sad, i Just feel like i made my mom feel like i dont give a fuck about the dude. It might of made her feel even worse.

U not the only one to feel that way..my friend lost his father and never shed a tear for the man or nothin, as for ur mom just be there for her, there is no need to have to say anything or bring it up unless she does..its hard when a person dies cuz there is never words that make a person that lost someone feel good @ that particular moment. When my cousin died i didn't know how to talk to my aunt it's like whatever cameout my mouth sounded dumb or stupid to me but it really wasn't...i wish i could tell u somethin that u can tell ur mom for comfort but i have no idea with this situation.

What ever you did to your mums ex was purely to only protect your mum, most people if not all would of done the same thing. It seems like you really care about your mum so forget about the past for now and just concentrate on the present by supporting your mum as it seems like she really needs you.

Well even though you hated the guy. You can still be there for your mom. You don't have to be sad that he is gone. But I imagine it makes you sad seeing your mom sad. Let her know that you are there for her no matter what, and that you love her. When anybody dies regardless of weather you like them or not. That is all that you can really do. Is just be there for the person facing the loss.
