What will you do with your degree?

The fact is that you really do not need to have a college education to succeed in life. There are those who want to open up their own businesses, if so, what will it be?

You come out of college with a ton of debt. You search for a job. You get a job. Depending where you are at in life, you will have a family or already do. Then you are in the rat race. Congratulations, you are just renting your life to your employer.

I work for an accounting firm and we have a heap of people who open up their own business with NO CLUE. They don't know how to look after their paperwork, they don't know how to successfully run a business.

Growing up I used to think before opening up a business you'd need to do some course or something and LEARN what it takes and what it needed to run a successful business, but it seems just about anybody can open up a business.

I'm guessing your aim to this thread was to discuss the fact that money does not make you happy, YOU make your life happy, and I completely agree. Although, I've come to realise, I do not want to struggle, I want to live comfortably financially and be able to what I want to do when I want to do it... I'm mainly talking about GOOD things, like, say, tomorrow I want to go and donate some money to the breast cancer foundation, nowadays, I'll think twice about donating, see whether I'll have enough money left over for me, but if I had more than enough, instead of the measly 5 bucks that I can JUST afford to give, I can give 5000 instead.

If I was financially comfortable, I won't have to work so hard to make money to pay the bills. If I was struggling, I'd have to to work 7 days a week just to pay my bills and expenses, I am not living a fulfilling life, I am wasting my life working all the time.

I hope this is what you're talking about =/

well Ima get a liqour license and
Open up a Liqour Store.

My city could use another one...
and I could use all the money I'd get from the drunks and winos
in town... because there will always be a demand for liqour....

So I think opening my own liqour store is the best move right now...

And fuck a family... id only think about having a family
when im ballin.. but right now.. fuck naw....
that's too much drama...

Growing up I would always hear people saying that money cant buy happiness and I have always agreed. Personally i would rather be working 40 hours a week and having a life to live rather than working 60 hours a week and no time for anything else. After I moved out of my parents house and have started a family tho, Im begining to understand that money is very important. It cant buy happiness alone, yet you still need it to be happy. I dont know many people that cant afford food and clothes that are really happy.

I guess what im trying to say is........to be happy, there has to be some kinda of middle ground. You need to work to make money so that your financially comfortable, but also work shouldnt be the only thing in your life.

I been working at this job for about 6 months. The money isnt great and normally I wouldnt care if it was just me I had to support but now its me, my girl and two little girls so money becomes a big thing. Im an accounting major and have just heard back from the IRS about a position as an Interal Revenue Agent. The great thing about this is that I get about 50% more money with this job, but I also work the same hours. The only negitive is I might have to move which kinda sucks but at least if I get this, ill be both comfortable financially as well as having time to live life.......i'll be happy in other words.

Hey...

Money is GREAT...MONEY IS GOOD! If, you know how it works and how to make it work for you.

WE ALL WORK FOR MONEY, WHY NOT TURN IT AROUND AND HAVE IT WORK FOR US? We trade our time for money, don't we? 95% of people do! Guess what? The world-class trades ideas that solve problems for money! AND THEY GET PAID ACCORDINGLY!

The One, you just said it. People who say "I don't need money to be happy" or "Money isn't everything". I agree, money isn't everything, BUT IT IS RIGHT UP THERE NEXT TO OXYGEN! The more money you have, the more secure you feel. Isn't that true?

Working for someone else WILL NEVER GET YOU FREE! THEY WILL PAY YOU ONLY ENOUGH FOR YOU TO STAY! THEY OWN YOU! THEY DICTATE HOW MUCH YOU MAKE A YEAR, THE CAR YOU DRIVE, THE HOUSE YOU LIVE IN, THE QUALITY OF LIFE YOU LIVE. Honestly, how does that sound, "I work for someone else"?

The fact is that there are principles about money that most of us just are naive about. Until we learn about how laws work in life as well as in finance, you can have the life you truly want.
