DALLAS - Dallas police are looking for two teenagers who allegedly set two pit bull dogs on fire and watched them run down the street over the weekend.
The dogs were so badly injured they had to be put to sleep.
Some time on Saturday night, police got a 911 call to come to Sunburst Dr. in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood.
Residents reportedly saw two dogs on fire running down the street, and a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old running from the scene. Some neighbors tried to help the dogs while others tried to catch the suspects, with no luck.
By the time police arrived, the teens were gone. Six other dogs were seized from the suspects' address and are with Dallas Animal Services.
'Agonizing Pain'
One of the burned dogs was male, and the other was a female that was either pregnant or nursing, according to Jonnie England, Director of Animal Advocacy for the Metroplex Animal Coalition.
"The two dogs were in agonizing pain," said England. "The little female dog looked worse than Mercy."
Mercy was a pit bull dog which was stabbed, doused with gas and set on fire three years ago. The dog's struggle captured the attention of North Texans, many of whom were heartbroken when she died ten days later.
Mercy's owner, DeShawn Brown, was convicted of third-degree animal cruelty and sentenced to four years in prison.

Makes me sick. I hope something terrible happens to the teenagers. I think I also heard on our news that the other dogs that were seized were fighting pit bulls. :(
