I got hit alot growing up(i sure half the board did),and not no ordinary beating either ,i mean bordering child abuse type shit.I was beaten with wire hangers,kitchen utensils,the broad side of a "cutlass" (a big knife),belts etc,and i never wanted to kill my parents. So dats no excuse.Kid was a mental case plain and simple.
