If you place your two weeks in and your company has a policy to not pay your accrued vacation after you leave but at the same time decide not to let you take the vacation during your two weeks what would you do?

Well I would have planned quitting ahead of time and then scheduled my vacation. If it wasn't scheduled ahead of time, then its probably company policy.

You sure it's even legal for companies to not pay accrued vacation?

Just checked up on it, looks like if you're not in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island (after one year of employment), Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wyoming

then there really isn't much you can do about it :frown:

Damn.. just reading up on US Law, your workplace law & fair labour standards act sucks.

Unless you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement or employment contract that requires you to be given vacation time, the law does not require employers to give their employees any vacation time off, paid or unpaid. Many if not most employers (over 75%) choose to do so, to prevent employee burnout and maintain employee morale, but it is not legally required. In that respect, the United States is behind many other countries around the world, where vacation time may total four to six weeks a year or more.

That is gay

Maybe you should fall sick during those 2 weeks :krazy:

Everyone has a doctor friend :D
