GREATEST HITS CLOSE TO PLATINUM

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's double-disc retrospective set Greatest Hits continues to inch forward to platinum status, selling 6,564 last week to bump its overall sales total to 448,730, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Because each disc in the set counts as one unit, the album is eligibile for platinum certification by the RIAA once its shipments reach 500,000.

Greatest Hits - while never tearing up the charts - has shown tremendous staying power on the Billboard Top 200, holding its ground in the bottom half of the charts since its release in November 2004. Certainly, it is extremely rare for an album that saw its peak at #95 to reach platinum.

Greatest Hits combines Bone's most commercially successful tracks ("Tha Crossroads", "1st Of Tha Month") with a bevy of fan favorites ("Thug Luv", "Ecstacy") and guest appearances (Notorious B.I.G.'s "Notorious Thugs", Mariah Carey's "Breakdown"). In all, twenty-six songs are contained in the set, which saw a re-release in the form of Greatest Hits: Chopped and Screwed late last year.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are no strangers to platinum, amassing an impressive array of plaques over the span of their decade-plus career:

E. 1999 Eternal - 4x Platinum*
The Art Of War - 4x Platinum
Creepin' On Ah Come Up - 2x Platinum
BTNHResurrection - 1x Platinum
The Collection Volume One - 1x Platinum

* Is eligible for 5x Platinum certification
