Additional Info:
It's easy to lose track of EPs in the world of hip-hop: the sheer number of studio releases, not to mention mixtapes, remix albums, and compilations, creates something of a market overload. But overlooking this 1994 Bone Thugs-N-Harmony EP would be a mistake. Raw, innovative, surprising, and boasting quality production, CREEPIN ON AH COME UP packs a serious punch, even with only eight tracks. With Eazy-E and DJ Yella helping out with production (Eazy-E also raps on "Foe tha Love of Money"), the tracks are tasty, but it's the superb flows of core members that make this EP a classic.
With so many wanna-bes on the '90s hip-hop scene, it is obvious that some sort of creativity on the part of the masses is lacking. In direct contrast, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, their multi-platinum EP CREEPIN ON AH COME UP and its "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" single, have given rap a new twist with an innovative style of delivery--almost dragging their hardcore rhymes while quickly flippin' their tongues to an off-beat pace.
One of the few rap acts to come out of Cleveland, Ohio, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were introduced to the industry by Eazy-E, leaving no doubt that their music revolves around gangsta-related topics (typified by "No Surrender"). DJ Uneek contributes tracks that concentrate on slow complex beats and complement Bone's lyrical skills, while Eazy-E and DJ Yella drop in to help add flavor to the production tip. On "Foe Tha Love Of $" the Thugs add their harmonic flow to the song's chorus, and show where their true love lies: "I'm givin' up love to the hustlers." With the EP's occasional strong R&B backing vocals, CREEPIN ON AH COME UP is a successful beginning and proves that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony have a promising future ahead of them.
